We invite submissions reporting on completed research and live demos at the intersection of haptics, audio, and human-computer interaction. We also welcome papers focusing on one of these fields with applications to the others.
We particularly welcome contributions, both theoretical and empirical, in the following areas:
– Design of audio and haptic feedback for health & wellbeing
– Musical haptics & augmented instruments
Contributions in the following areas are also welcome:
– Novel haptic and auditory interfaces
– Perception & evaluation of multimodal and cross-sensory interactions
– Design principles for haptic and auditory interfaces
– Design of audio and haptic feedback for entertainment and creative applications
– Affective and semiotic roles of haptics and audio in interaction
– Leveraging auditory-tactile correspondences in interaction design
Papers
HAID 2022 seeks original, high-quality papers in all areas related to haptics, audio, and interaction design. They can be of the following nature: original research papers, including case studies; position papers; and review papers.
Each submission will be peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be included in the Proceedings of HAID 2022, which will be published in the LNCS series of Springer.
Papers should be between 6 and 10 pages, in English, and must be submitted electronically in PDF format. Templates and Instructions for authors can be found here.
At the conference, papers will be presented either as oral presentations or posters. Authors should indicate the mode of presentation that best fits their contribution. Final presentation mode will be based on author request and program constraints.
Authors also have the possibility to present a demo of the work (see Demos) described in their submission and should indicate whether they would like to do so at the time of their submission.
Submission deadline: 29 April 13 May 22 May 2022 (11:59 PM AoE)Acceptance notification: 30 May 13 June 20 June 2022 Camera ready deadline: 10 June 20 June 1 July 2022 (11:59 PM AoE)
Demos
HAID 2022 will feature sessions devoted to live demos that are either standalone or associated with a paper or work in progress submission.
For all demo submissions, a PDF (max 4 pages) detailing the following is required:
– Name of the project/device/instrument
– A short (100 words) description of the project (for public display)
– A short description (100 words) of how the audience will interact with the demo, e.g., how many people can interact with it at a time, will they require headphones or special equipment
– Technical requirements, e.g., amount of space needed, number of power supplies, if a screen/speakers will be required, if a poster will be shown alongside the demo
– A link to a short video, or several images of the project. If possible, a sketch or diagram providing an overview of how people will interact with the demo to give us an idea of how it will work in the demo space.
– Links to any website or other publications about the project.
For standalone demo proposals, an extended abstract (max 2 pages in Springer LNCS format without “Abstract” and excluding references) discussing the related science and technology is also required, in addition to the PDF with demo requirements.
